Access#

Is the sandbox free?#

Yes. Sign up in the developer portal, or get credentials with one call to POST https://sandbox.a2ainstapay.com/sandbox/instant.

Can my team share a workspace?#

Yes. The workspace owner adds colleagues by e-mail address in Team, after they sign up. You can also create up to ten workspaces, for example one per developer.

Do sandbox credentials work in production?#

No. Production credentials are issued after the go-live review, through a secure channel.

The sandbox#

Does real money move?#

No. Money, banks, identity checks and the RTP network are simulated. Never enter real personal information.

How do I test a failure?#

Use the test data: SSN, EIN and mobile number endings for onboarding outcomes, test banks for linking outcomes, and amounts ending 01 to 04 for network outcomes. Or answer Requests for Payment yourself at the rail desk in manual rail mode.

How do I test something that takes days, like a retry or a dispute deadline?#

Move your workspace's clock forward in Time travel. Everything due runs in order.

My webhook endpoint is on my laptop. How do I receive webhooks?#

Run the forwarding tool. It needs no tunnel.

Can I complete the hosted screens in automated tests?#

Yes, with POST /v1/sandbox/sessions/{id}/complete. See Testing in the sandbox.

How long is my data kept?#

Workspaces created through sign-up stay while your account is active; instant workspaces last seven days unless claimed; demo app sessions last 24 hours. See the privacy notice.

Integration#

Can my web app call the Tenant API directly?#

No. Only your servers call the Tenant API. Your web app opens hosted screens with the SDK and talks to your server.

Why does the hosted screen open in a new window?#

So that trusted devices and passkeys work, and your app never sees the customer's PIN. If a browser refuses the window, the SDK moves to a full-page transition and brings the customer back to your return page.

Is a webhook or the exchange response the source of truth?#

The webhook. Show the outcome of the exchange at once, then update from webhooks.
